Leapwork offers users three different types of licenses i.e. Trial, Platform & Enterprise. In this article, we will learn how to smoothly migrate using the Leapwork automation tool from Trial Version to Platform Version.
To prevent data loss and prepare for any unforeseen problems during the migration, we strongly encourage you to perform a backup of Leapwork and related data before starting the migration or ensure that the latest backup contains the necessary versions of flows, environments, etc. The backup will allow you to roll back to the previous version if required.
Full Backup - To perform a full backup of LEAPWORK automation flows, assets, videos, and reporting data, copy the Assets folder (typically, ‘C:\Program Files\LEAPWORK\Assets’) to any location outside of the installation directory. If you already have a backup fulfilling your requirements, this can also be used. Also, make sure you have the encryption key & admin password stored.
The reporting data & run lists will not be migrated as part of the migration process. If you need access to the history of your previous automation runs, it is recommended that you export the reporting data needed using Leapwork’s built-in export capability. If you have already created a preferred reporting view, exporting it is easy: Click on Export in the Reporting section’s menu bar. You can export it into Excel, HTML, or PDF. Be aware that the exported reporting data cannot be imported back into Leapwork.

Next, export all the flows from the Leapwork trial version, which will be later imported into the platform version.
Follow the recommended steps below for a successful migration process -
Step 1 - Backup of Flows
1. Open the studio application.
2. Right-click in the flows section and click Export.
3. Select all the folders & flows which you want to migrate into the platform version of Leapwork, browse the location & name your backup.
4. Click Export
All the flows will be exported into a ZIP file.
Step 2 - Uninstall the Leapwork Trial version:
1. Open Control Panel – Programs & Features
2. Choose Leapwork & click Uninstall.
Step 3 - Delete Leapwork folder:
Navigate to C:\Program Files – and delete the Leapwork folder.
Step 4 - Delete Registry Entries:
Open Registry Editor (Win+R) type Regedit and click ok.
Navigate to - Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LEAPWORK
and delete the LEAPWORK folder from the registry editor.
Uninstallation of Leapwork trial is now complete.
Step 5 - Installation of Platform Version:

Step 6 - Migration of Flows
1. Open the Studio application.
2. Right-click in the flows section and click Import.
3. Select the flow backup file which is to be imported and click Open.
By default, all folders & flows will be selected.
4. Click Import.
Now all the flows are imported, and you are ready to use the platform version.
